Style Code 6: Dressing the 'E'

Dress Code Formal's design team has submitted a series of tips for each type of female silhouette. There are 7 different shapes and each Style Code will cover one of the body types. Read all the Style Codes to discover your silhouette and find the perfect bridesmaid dress, evening gown or special occasion dress.

Women who have a rounder profile are considered the 'E' body type. Women in this group have waist measurements that are proportionally larger than their bust and hips. 'E' bodies tend to have unbelievable legs and a shorter torso. The key to playing up your assets if you are in this group is to show off your legs, balance out your lower body, and concentrate on bust details and embellishments to show off your beautiful face.

While shopping for a bridesmaid dress or evening gown at Dress Code Formal, look for shorter skirts in pencil silhouettes and try out something with a flare or softly draped A-line. If you are set on a floor-length bridesmaid dress or evening gown, go for one with a bias cut and embellishments at the bust. Try out an empire style with details at the bust and flowing A-line skirt with gentle gathers at the waist band. A bit of a flare in a trumpet skirt could also be quite flattering. Try to concentrate on bringing the attention upwards, while smoothing out your bottom half. This will create a more elegant silhouette and make you feel like a superstar!

Do not forget that all of our trims and embellishments are pretty easily removed. We like to make sure that you know you have the option of altering the style of dress if you like the shape, but not a detail.
